Gateway Desert Awareness Park allows visitors to see a natural wash area. This park is home to a wash that may suddenly be filled by rapidly flowing water when it rains in the nearby hills. Visitors can see the strength of the water through the amount of debris left in the wash. On sunny days, visitors can walk through the wash, but if it is cloudy at all, one should not enter it. Discover more about desert plants by joining a free tour of the park, led by volunteers of the Desert Awareness Committee, on the second Saturday of the month, through April.
